10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day 7 Cardio/Total Body/Yoga

10 Minute Trainer Week 1

10 Minute Trainer Week 1

Spider Bite!

Spider Bite!

This weekend has been a whirl wind, let me tell ya! We’ve had the expected BBQs and parties, but then there’s the unexpected. My son woke up this morning complaing about his ear. He had been at my father-in-laws camp the night before. Well, his ear was swollen to about 3 times it’s normal size and a nice red/purple color. There were 2 very tiny marks on the upper part of his ear (where skin was now starting to peel away) and there was stuff oozing from it. We took him to the doctor of course. Turns out the poor guy is suffering from a nasty spider bite. The nuerotoxins in the venom are causing skin death and it had turned into a staff infection as well. They drained the ear and put him on a high dose of antibiotics and steroids. He should be doing fine by tomorrow they said, but we still are keeping a close eye on him.

With that being said, on with the 10 Minute Trainer Review. Today I upped the anty people. That’s right, 30 whole minutes of butt busting work. I did cardio, total body and yoga. I think the combo worked out pretty well actually. I like how they give you the stacking option, but it’s put in order so that they mesh well together. The cardio got me nice and pumped. Then I got to work my whole body with some nice iso moves. The yoga was a nice finishing touch. Really helped me cool down and strecth out. Plus I think I needed it after today’s stress. All-in-all, great workout day. We made sure to keep to the healthier side of things today too. After last night’s “little extra” and tomorrow’s (we have another BBQ tomorrow) I figured playing it safe would be a good idea today.

So that’s it for week one people. We made it! Seven whole days!!!! Make sure to stick with me. I’ll be starting week 2 tomorrow and I can’t do it without you guys. You are great with the support, keep it coming!

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day 6 Yoga Flex and Abs

We went ot Motley Crue last night. It was great! I mainly went for Buckcherry, but all the bands rocked! I even got an autograph from the guitarist in Sixx AM. We didn’t get to bed until the wee hours of the morning and then we were up at 8am!!! I have never been so tired! I went to the bridal shop today to look at dresses. I found THE ONE guys. It was soooo beautiful. Not one of the big puffy princess dresses. Kind of old school, vintage looking. I put down my deposit so now this is definately feeling official. I am getting so excited. When they went to measure me to order the right size I got some interesting news. My measurements are 32 bust, 25 waist, and 36 hips. This is interesting because I’ve lost 2 inches in my bust (I was never “blessed” in this area and the only time I ever  have been was after my kids were born). So apparently breasts lose weight too. My waist lost an inch as did my hips. So I may not be able to see dramatic visual results, but they are a happening!

Today we had a BBQ to go to. I ate good this morning and at lunch (protein shake and a turkey burger) so I didn’t feel AS guilty about the crap I would be eating later. I tried to be health conscious but I didn’t want to take all the flavor out of life. I opted for grilled chicken instead of burgers. I had beans and salad as well. So not too bad. I am sure the ice cream cake wasn’t on my 10 Minute Trainer meal guide though. Oh well, live a little sometimes right?!? The good news is that I came back afterwards and still stuck to my workout plan. Today was Yoga Flex and Abs. I must say I thought the yoga would be a little more intense since the rest of the workouts are hard core. But it is yoga after all, I don’t think they intend for you to kill yourself on this one. It was certainly a “feel good” workout. Nice deep strecthes. Abs were a killer again today, but my form is improving. I’m thinking maybe next week I might add an extra routine at least once a week. I’m feeling a lot more energized and I want to stay challenged. Hope you all are having a great Labor Day weekend! Everyone be safe!

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day 5 Total Body and Lower Body

So I’ve made it 5 days! I feel great about myself! Today I did Total and Lower Body and I was able to go through them BOTH without stopping! I even did a little extra bicep work once I was finished. I am dripping sweat all over my keybord. This is amazing!!!! I am having a wonderful day. I go to a Motley Crue concert tonight to top things off. For lunch today I am going to try something a little different…..a turkey burger. Never had one before so I am a little iffy about it, but I have been told they’re good. Last night I got my whole family to eat halibut, even my picky eater husband! I can see the changes in everyone. We’re all sleeping better, more active, and less stressed. I’ve even noticed a little more energy in the “wifely duties” department, if you know what I mean. Alright enough on THAT topic, but it was a little secret I felt like sharing. So guys, I am feeling amped and am lookkng forward to another week and awesome results! See you tomorrow when I do the Yoga for the first time. That should be good, I love yoga!

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day 4 Cardio and Abs

I have to admit guys, I felt pretty discouraged yesterday during my off day. I’m one of those people that likes to see immediate results in something. I’m VERY impatient! Like I said in my intro video, my husband is doing the P90X workouts. I see him everyday COVERED in sweat and ready to drop after his workouts. Yesterday I just felt that I wasn’t getting a lot out of this. But then something happened…….I went to put on a pair of shorts (my only shorts left since I hadn’t done laundry in a while) and they fit! It wasn’t a huge difference, but enough for me to notice. I also noticed that even though it was an off day I was completely energized and couldn’t stand sitting still. Usually by 2 in the afternoon I’m ready for a little cat nap. But this last week I’ve found myslef loaded with energy. I’m guessing the combo of healthy eating and staying active is helping a lot. I’m even sleeping better at night (partly from exhaustion I’m sure LOL). So I guess what I’m trying to say is even if you get discouraged, don’t give up. Find a renewed inner strength and keep pushing. You WILL see results, even in the smallest of ways.

Today was Cardio and Abs. I was able to do almost all of the Cardio without stopping. I bet you all know which part held me up, right? Yep, the hop squats. But I did better. I was able to make it a little longer this time. Today was my first day of the Ab routine. I’m embarrased to say it was pretty hard for me and I had to stop a lot. It took me a bit to get used to the forms as well. I’m sure next time it wil be easier though. I definately was feeling it, that’s for sure! So until next time……..DON’T GIVE UP!

10 Minute Trainer Reviews Day 3: Off Day

Today is supposed to be my rest day. AHHHHHHHHHH, must deserved rest and relaxation. Wait a minute, I have 2 kids, nevermind that rest part. I’ll probably spend the day doing some housework and playing with my babies. Catch you guys tomorrow when it’s Day 4!

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day 2 Total Body and Cardio

All I have to say is OWIE!!!!! I woke up this morning and my legs were aching from the Lower Body routine yesterday. I had my breakfast (which seemed much smaller than yesterday’s, a bowl of cereal with some almonds). Still quite tasty though. Today was Total Body and I threw in the Cardio routine as well. Man!!!! After that Total Body workout my arms were sore! I couldn’t even imagine lifting them above my head for at least another hour. And this was only from a 10 minute workout. The DVDs come with the option of doing a warm up and cool down before and after each routine. I reccommend this setting just because it gets you prepped and there’s less chance of injury or muscle strain the next day. So I really liked the Total Body. It wasn’t as intense as the Lower Body or Cardio so it was nice to have a little “break”. Don’t get me wrong, you are still busting ass. Cardio was tough work today as well. Still couldn’t get through that full minute of the squat hops at the end. That is going to be my 4 week goal. By 4 weeks I want to be able to finish that.  So now it’s time for the showers and good eats for the rest of the day. In case you were wondering, I do my workouts in the morning about and hour and a half after breakfast. This just works easier with my schedule since I’m home with the kids. But I keep a positive outlook on the things the rest of the day. I keep in mind what I should and should not be eating and I still try to stay active….maybe do a few rounds on the monkey bars at the playground or something. Tomorrow is my day off based on my workout calender. All I have to say is THANK GOD!!!!!!!

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day 1 Cardio and Lower Body

Ok….I am officialy eating humble pie! I started my 90 days of workout commitment today and boy was I wrong! I began my day with a healthy breakfast, one I got from the 10 Minute Meal Guide, 1/2 a cantelope with 1/2 a cup lowfat cottage cheese with 1/3 cup high fiber cereal. I must say it was really good! I wasn’t hungry at all after. In fact I found myself quite full…….to the point of bursting! After that I did my dishes and got my kids ready. Now that my “mommy chores” were done it was time for the true test. Being a former gymnist, I had my doubts about what I could possibly achieve in 10 small minutes. So I decided instead of 10 minutes I would do 20 today (10 Minute Trainer allows you to customize your workouts based on what you think you can achieve). So Day 1 on my workout calender was the 10 minute cardio workout. Let me tell you I was sweating after 2 minutes, and that was without the cardio band! I was breathing heavy and having to push myself come the last 2 minutes. I stopped with 30 seconds to go and got a drink and then finished strong the last 10 secs.

The finishing move is definately the hardest thing I have ever done! It’s called “hop squat back run forward”. You start in squatting position and hop backwards 4 times then run forward like you are running through tires…..then do it all over again for a minute! 10 Minute Trainer is intense! I could not believe this was just the cardio portion of my day. My all knowing self decided to add the lower body workout to my routine today as well. I had another 10 minutes of shaking buns and thighs. My muscles are still twitching from the exercises. I loved it all though! Day 1 lesson learned:: You are not as great as you think you are! I am definately looking forward to tomorrow’s workout……..I don’t think I’ll be doing any more than 20 minutes for a  while though LOL!

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Healthy living

I cleaned out all of my cabinets and fridge today…….I was REALLY shocked to see what kind of junk I was feeding myself and my family (after reading the nutrition guide, I quickly learned what I thought were healthy choices weren’t so healthy). The kids were sad to see their sugary cereals and other snacks get tossed, and I can admit I wasn’t too happy to see my ice cream go. So I went grocery shopping to replace everything with more nutricious choices before the “Big Start” on Monday. Once I got there I realized maybe this won’t be so bad. My ice cream was easily replaced with all natural frozen fruit bars (no added sugar of course).  I can still have snacks, in moderation, and they definately don’t sound like cardboard! I stocked up on things like smoothies, whole grain or sourdough pretzels, and apples with peanut butter. My dinners won’t be lacking either. I can even still have a hamburger!!!! The nutrition guide basically helped me see that if I make wiser choices and be a little more “nutrition aware” I can lead a much healthier lifestyle and feel better too. Replace regular snack crackers and such with things that have whole wheat. I even found whole wheat waffles and pancakes (here my kids thought they would never eat again)! So all in all this sounds like it won’t be as undesirable as all the other “starve yourself to shed the pounds”. I am excited to see what changes I feel within myself just by eating healthier……and just wait until I start the workout!!!!!!
