10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day 20, Lazy Sunday

Today I got a late start…I woke up pretty early, but after I ate breakfast I fell right back to sleep and slept for another three hours. I know, I don’t think you can get any lazier than that. Usually I don’t let myself waste so much of the day like that, but then I had to keep reminding myself that I have tomorrow off :-) Such a treat, because that means I only have a three day week of classes. Tomorrow is also the start of my fourth week. That seems like so long to me! But then when I say 21 days, it doesn’t seem as long. I would say so far I am happy with my results. In general I just feel better. Even if at the end of this I don’t have a sick pack or look drastically different, I will still be happy to be living a healthier lifestyle, and have better habits.

So finally when I snapped out of my lethargic mood today I got a chunk of work done. My homework for one my design classes is mostly about developing good craftmanship, so I find the work for it to be relaxing acutally. Being a sophomore my classes are now all related to graphic design, so even though I have a heavier work load, I love what I’m doing. After  working for a bit, I went to the grocery store with my roomate. The weather here is so nice, and we went around sunset, so what is usually an annoying walk to the grocery store was really enjoyable. It had been a while since I went grocery shopping, and I had to competely restock my fridge with vegetables, so it was large…and expensive shopping trip. But it should last me a while…it should at least!

Then when I got back, I worked out. Started out with Lower Body, and Cardio, and finished with Abs. I always think that lower body is going to feel like yoga, like I’ll feel it in my muscles, but I wont break a sweat, but then a couple minutes in I’m already sweating. I really liked this combination today…by day 20, I am definitely developing favorites when it comes to the different combinations of 10 minute trainer work outs.

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day 18, Cardio, Abs, Lower Body

Finally, I am back to normal. This whole week has been busy, but I love it. I completely prefer being busy and keeping a tight schedule rather than being lazy and having so much free time. Today in between class and getting some errands done, I did my Abs work out. I know that whenever do Abs, I’ll definitely feel it work, but I always forget that how much of a sweat it is. I never have a problem making time for the 10-30 minute work out, but for the shower after and the getting ready time to follow is what I have a hard time making time for. So today, I broke up the 3 work outs, and did them through out the day. I don’t know why I didn’t think to do that earlier. When I got back from my errands (which consisteted of 3 hours of walking around the city…and doing some shopping :-) I did cardio, and lower body. For dinner, I made a delicious pizza, it such an easy and cheap thing to make, that will feed me and all my roomates, and since I’m making it myself, I can keep it healthier.

So my weekend officially started at 12:30 today, and so far it has been very productive! I am spoiled and get a four day weekend, so it won’t be hard to fit all my work outs in this weekend. Also, I hope it is nice so I can go on a run along the river, in addition to the 10 minute workouts.

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day 16, Back in the Game…almost

Good news: I am feeling a lot better today! Not completely back to normal…my nose is still really stuffy so it makes breathing out of my nose impossible. Today was such a busy day too, I was non-stop busy from the moment I woke up, until now. Today was a long day of classes, and I am joining a sorority this term, so that added to my crazy schedule, with having to attend a lot of events. I actually prefer being busy, than having a lot of time on my hands. Although I may be stressed while trying to get everything done, everything does eventually get done.

So today I didn’t want to over do it, seeing how it has been a couple days since I’ve done a full 10 minute trainer workout, (Which I’m really disapointed about, I really was starting to feel like I was having positivie results, and now… a set back) so I eased myself back into the routine with 10 minutes of Abs. Tomorrow I’ll probably add another workout, I’ll have to check out the schedule. But I can’t wait to be healthy! I’m already half way done with my week-another reason why I love having a four day “work” week.

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day 12, TGIF

Today I made sure to get up early to do my 10 minute trainer workout. My best friends from home are all coming to visit, and I knew if I didn’t work out before they got here, it wouldn’t happen. Today was Cardio, Lower Body, Yoga, and then I added some Abs. I didn’t do all the moves in the abs, just my favorites, haha. For the most part cardio is pretty routine, I still get a good work out from it, and break a sweat, but its becoming easier. For those of you doing it too, is it just me or do you really dread hop, squat and run home? I wish it was in the beggining instead of the end, just to get it over with. I really don’t have any complaints with lower body. I like that its slower pace, its a nice follow up to the cardio. And as much as I love stretching, sometimes I find myself getting antsy when I know my workout is ending with yoga, because it is so relaxing, and I’m usually in a rush to shower or get to somewhere I have to be.

So tomorrow I will give myself a day off. I am so excited for my friends to come, and to take them out here in the city. Obviously we love to eat and drink together, so I am going have to be very careful and stick to the plan as best I can. I haven’t seen them in a couple months, maybe they’ll notice any changes!

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day Ten, Hard to Get Started

I think I thought of everything I possibly could do before starting the workout this morning. Cleaning the kitchen this morning was more appealing than popping in the dvd and immediately jumping into 10 minutes of cardio. But like always, once I did get started, I was into it, and didn’t skimp on anything either. WIth these workouts, being on your own, its easy and tempting to take a break whenever you want, and a few seconds before its over. But I really want to see results so I am doing my best to make sure I get the most out of it. Tony does encourage breaks if needed though, which I do have to take sometimes, especially when it comes to push ups. I’m getting better but I’m still not able to them for 10 minutes straight. Today was also Total Body, and Abs. I did the first two this morning, and I plan on doing Abs tonight, after class.

Today is going to be a long day. Class from 1-6. Three hour classes kill me, especially when the teacher talks to the whole time. Today I have photography for three hours, we’ll see how that goes…

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day Eight, Easy Workout Today

Today was an easy day for both my classes, and my work out. I only had one class today, from one-three. I woke up around 10 and did Cardio, Abs, and Yoga. After a week of these 10 minute exercises I have gotten comfortable and familiar enough with the moves that I turned down the narration of Tony, and played my motivational work out music in the background. Compared to other workout videos that I have tried to follow before, Tony’s narration doesn’t get on my nerves and  his crazy high energy is actually entertaining sometimes. But with the workouts starting to get repetitive I think playing my own music helps keep it exciting.

I really enjoy yoga, I wish it went on for longer.  I could sit in that Pigeon stretch for 5 minutes, its such an easy stretch but you feel it so much at the same time. After doing these workouts for a week, I feel like I know what I am doing, but the only downside to doing these workouts at home, following a video, is that I could be doing these moves wrong and have no idea. Sometimes if a roommate is around, I’ll ask if it looks like I’m doing it right, they would be the first to tell me if  I looked ridiculous.

I feel like this weekend was a little bit of set back. Friday morning after working out I was really feeling great, and feeling like I could already see and feel the affects of keeping up with these workouts. Then the weekend came, and I did drink, and slacked a little bit with my nutrition plan, so I just have to get back on track, and have now learned my lesson, that I can’t slack with the work out just because its the weekend.

10 Minute Work Out Review: Day Three, No More Morning Coffee

Our fully stocked fridge! I wonder how long it will last...

Our fully stocked fridge! I wonder how long it will last...

Today I woke up at 8:30, for the second day in a row. Even though it requires my roommates to shake me and turn the lights on to wake me up, getting up this early three days in a row has already been an accomplishment for me! I didn’t waste that much time before starting the workout. The 10 Minute Trainer has replaced my morning coffee for my boost of energy. Today was cardio again, I am getting more comfortable doing the different moves, so now I am not wasting half the minute trying to figure out what it is I am trying to be doing. After cardio was Abs, and I took less breaks this time. The ab exercises that start off in plank are the most difficult for me, so I usually do the easier option that Tony offers.

Today was also my first day doing the 10 Minute Trainer yoga flex. It was really nice to end the workout with some stretching. It had been a while since I have really taken the time to stretch, and it something I should do everytime I workout. I liked the 10 Minute Trainer yoga workout, it was definitely somethign I could handle. This summer I took my first yoga class, and it was not at all what I expected. I did not expect to break a sweat and feel my muscles burn, and despite being the youngest one in the class by at least 20 years I was struggling most. But hopefully as these workouts become more routine that will not be the case anymore!

As far as the nutrition plan has been working out for me, so far I have been eating very healthy at school. Not even having junk food in the kitchen makes that not even an option for me, and being so busy with classes I do not have the time to snack. So far my breakfasts have consisted of Cheerios or a cup of yogurt with some fruit, like suggested on the meal plan. The most difficult thing to follow with the nutrition plan is when to eat during the day. With classes back to back I can’t always eat every 2-3 hours, but I do my best!

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day One, Back to School

Hey everyone! My name is Hannah and as of today I have started the 10 Minute Trainer workout program. I am a sophomore in college and today is also my first day of classes. It is great to be back at school. The past two days have been very hectic, moving into my new apartment and getting situated. My arms were actually sore this morning from all the heavy lifting I was not used to doing.

I waited to start 10 Minute Trainer until I was back at school. I had a great summer, traveling and going on adventures with my friends, but it completley lacked any routine. Now with school and a set schedule I am ready to make these workouts part of my daily routine. In addition to the exercise there is a 10 Minute Trainer Nutritional plan to follow, which I am planning to follow the best I can. Again, as a student my food funds are limited but so far I have only stocked my kitchen with healthy food. Last year, with a meal plan, it was almost impossible to eat healthy at school, and I am afraid I was a victim of the freshman fifteen.

I have never been an athlete, but for the most part have always been in good shape. I danced for 12 years, which kept me fit and active, but now that I am at college I have had to stop taking dance classes and have to find other ways to exercise. So far the 10 Minute Trainer has been very convenient. Today I did a total of thirty minutes. Cardio, Lower Body and Abs. Three minutes in to the first set I was sweating and I knew that after thirty minutes I would feel truly worked. Out of the three I liked the Lower Body the best. The Abs work out was really challenging for me and I had to take small breaks through out that one. So one of the first goals I have set for myself is to soon be able to do the Abs set without taking any breaks.

So now that I have worked out, I am going to make myself an egg white omelette before I go to my first class, where it will reallllly hit me that I am  back to school for another year of working hard and playing hard. And hopefully by the time I go home for Christmas break  I will look and feel in much better shape than when I had left.

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day 22 Cardio/Lower body/Abs

So after much thought and deliberation I have decided to move up to the P90X program. I am finishing up this week of 10 Minute Trainer and also intergrating myself in the X Program. My friend’s sister wil be taking this blog over so you guys won’t be left hanging. I just need more of a challlenge. I used to be a gymnist and still am a very active person. This workout has been grat for building my endurance and stamina. I highly recommend it for anyone. I am just ready to take it to the next level. I have had my eye on the X for a while and I think I might be ready to take it on. So for this next week I will be doing my workouts as well as joining my husband at night to do his workouts.

I did my cardio, lower body, and abs today. I really brought it and tried to push myself to the limit. I want to go out with a bang and make sure I am fully prepared for the next step. I have been able to do those damned hops squats for a week now and I am very proud of myself. I said it would be my 4 week goal and here I am on week 3 and rockin it. I am really noticing changes in myself continuously. I eat healthy, follow the nutrition guide (though not always to a T), and try my hardest during my workouts. I have notice a change in my posture, my sleep patterns, my endurance, even my poop! Strange as that may sound it is true. Because of this diet I have noticed my stools being a little more “firm” shall we say? I highly recommend an increase in fiber, just to be on the safe side. Who knows, maybe that’s just how my body is reacting. But it is just a change I noticed that I can attribute to the program.

Tonight I started my first workout with my husband on the P90X program. We did Yoga X. For those of you that don’t know much about it…….it is the mother of all workouts as far as I’m concerned. It was and hour and a half of yoga! I like to pride myself in being a good little yogi. I must be mistaken. After 30 minutes I was dying! Sore as hell and sweating like a pig. Sweating…..during yoga! It was great though. It wasn’t as killer thoughout, just the beginning. The last half was just a wonderful stretch. It ended great with some relaxation poses and breathing/chanting. I think tomorrow is something called Core Synergytics. I will continue to keep you guys posted. Hope you all are having as much success in your endevors! I wish you much health and happiness!

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day 21 Cardio/Abs/Lower Body

Today was a relaxing chill day witht he family. I started off the morning making all the traditional family apple stuffs. Like I mentioned yesterday, we make applesauce, apple chips, and apple bread. It’s all mighty tasty and not all that bad (well…….not really). I spent most of my AM in the kitchen and my house smelled fantastic!!! After that I kind of konked out on the couch. So that means I had to do my workout in the afternoon before dinner. Usually I don’t do this so it was a little out of the norm. I did the whole shebang today with 30 mins. I made it through cardio no problem (although the sweat was pouring). Abs is still a real burner. I love it though. I can really feel it working, and I’m glad my foot is still holding out. The stretches and all are really doing their job so I can do mine. Lower body is one of my favorite workouts. It’s is probably the one that you definately feel the most. Your legs burn and shake and it is excellent because you knowit’s your body telling you “Hey, I’m working it here!” I am really noticing as of late that I am excelling in these programs. They still get my heart pumping, but the intensity isn’t holding me back. I have increased the intesity of my bands hoping that proves to be more of a challenge. I definately plan on moving up to P90x after this. My husband is doing it now and it looks great! Well, back to the kitchen for me. Must go check on my second batch of bread. Don’t you wish you could smell my kitchen right now?
