10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day 17, Feeling Good

Today it felt really good to wake up without a sore throat, and somewhat cleared nose. I got a good nights sleep last night, and I am feeling almost completely better. I definitely felt well enough to do all three workouts today. I started out with Lower Body, which is one my favorites to start with. Then I did Total Body, and finished with Cardio. It feels good to be getting back in to the swing. Today I didn’t eat so well because I had to throw out half my groceries that have went bad sitting in the fridge. I am still new at this buying groceries thing. I love being able to cook, because I am learning it requires more planning if I want to get the most out of what I buy. I only buy food that are found on those first two levels of the nutrition guide, but roomates are always bake and I am constantly surrounded by the temptation of cupcakes and brownies.

Tomorrow after class is done at 12:30, I am done for the week! But my weekend is looking to be very busy as well, so it is not so much of a break. I have a lot of errands to do in the city, which always ends up being like a workout for me. I love being able to walk everywhere, you could walk miles just shopping and not even realize it! Tomorrow I’ll have my Week 3 Pics up, I am not expecting to see much change because I feel like this past week was sort of on pause.

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day 12, TGIF

Today I made sure to get up early to do my 10 minute trainer workout. My best friends from home are all coming to visit, and I knew if I didn’t work out before they got here, it wouldn’t happen. Today was Cardio, Lower Body, Yoga, and then I added some Abs. I didn’t do all the moves in the abs, just my favorites, haha. For the most part cardio is pretty routine, I still get a good work out from it, and break a sweat, but its becoming easier. For those of you doing it too, is it just me or do you really dread hop, squat and run home? I wish it was in the beggining instead of the end, just to get it over with. I really don’t have any complaints with lower body. I like that its slower pace, its a nice follow up to the cardio. And as much as I love stretching, sometimes I find myself getting antsy when I know my workout is ending with yoga, because it is so relaxing, and I’m usually in a rush to shower or get to somewhere I have to be.

So tomorrow I will give myself a day off. I am so excited for my friends to come, and to take them out here in the city. Obviously we love to eat and drink together, so I am going have to be very careful and stick to the plan as best I can. I haven’t seen them in a couple months, maybe they’ll notice any changes!

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day Nine, A break from cardio

I enjoyed today’s workout, doing Yoga, Lower Body and Total Body. I think Total Body is becoming my favorite. I think its  because I really feel it working my arms, and that is definitely an area that I ignore, but also am concious of. Also, I have made progress! Raising the bands above my head I was not able to do at first, but today I was able to, no problem. Yoga was nice and relaxing as always, though today my shoulder started to bother me when I was doing the right angle stretch.

In addition to these workouts I really wanna start running on my own. There is a great bike path along the river, two minutes from where I live, and it is always so nice to run on, but unfortunately I have not found the time to dedicate to that. I know if I used my time more wisely I could probably fit it in at least 4 times a week, but it something I’ll have to work on.

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day Four, Total Body, Cardio, Lower Body

Much of today was spent debating whether or not today would be my designated “day off” that is planned in the 10 Minute Trainer guide. The past couple days have been stressful, and a nap was sounding so much more appealing than getting into work out clothes and repeating different exercises for thirty minutes. Finally I decided I would just do the one ten minute work out and see how I feel. It’s getting started that is the hard part. Starting out with total body, I was a lot more comfortable using the bands, so I was able to get more out of this time than when I had first done total body. Breaking a sweat after four or five minutes, I decided to do all three suggested for day four. It’s only day four, and though it has not become easy, it is easier to follow the work outs and transition quicker now that I am more familiar with all of the moves, and now, I am getting more out of my work outs.

Tony always talks about how every move is designed to work the whole body, and that no muscle or body part is ignored. When I do work out on my own, I think I only work two or three muscles at the most. I am excited to results throughout my body. I always neglect to do my arms, and after completing total body I could immediately feel how much I worked them.

With the weekend up coming up, I think I’ll save my day off.

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day Two, So far so good!

This is my official "before" picture.

At last my arms are no longer sore after moving in all my furniture, so today it was not hard to get into workout mode. I started with Total Body this time, which mostly used the bands, which I have to get more comfortbale using I think. It started out with doing push-ups…what a rude awakening. When I danced we would have to do 20 push-ups in our warm-ups, which I had no problem doing back then because it was so routine. Today I struggled with doing five before I switched to bending my knees. Im sure in time they’ll become easier though. Then I did cardio, some of the moves I really liked, some of them I could not wait to finish, like the ones that looked like you would do them at football practice. I finished with lower body, which I did yesterday and really liked.

Today I did the workout after I was done with classes for the day, I think I prefer starting my day with the work out, but on days like today, getting myself up for 9:30 class is hard enough. Tomorrow I’ll start my day with the work out and then start my classes in the afternoon.

Now that I have done my 10 MInute Trainer I am going to go on and do my least favorite hidden workout ever…a trip to the art supply store. As an art student I always have to walk about 15 blocks to the nearest art supply store and stock up on heavy and painful to carry art supplies and then walk back…that definitely makes me break a sweat.

Also, I forgot to mention that my sister is a friend of Jen…she has begun the p90x workout, you can read about her switch here. When I heard about her results from 10 Minute Trainer I wanted to get involved and see them for myself, and so…I took over!

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day One, Back to School

Hey everyone! My name is Hannah and as of today I have started the 10 Minute Trainer workout program. I am a sophomore in college and today is also my first day of classes. It is great to be back at school. The past two days have been very hectic, moving into my new apartment and getting situated. My arms were actually sore this morning from all the heavy lifting I was not used to doing.

I waited to start 10 Minute Trainer until I was back at school. I had a great summer, traveling and going on adventures with my friends, but it completley lacked any routine. Now with school and a set schedule I am ready to make these workouts part of my daily routine. In addition to the exercise there is a 10 Minute Trainer Nutritional plan to follow, which I am planning to follow the best I can. Again, as a student my food funds are limited but so far I have only stocked my kitchen with healthy food. Last year, with a meal plan, it was almost impossible to eat healthy at school, and I am afraid I was a victim of the freshman fifteen.

I have never been an athlete, but for the most part have always been in good shape. I danced for 12 years, which kept me fit and active, but now that I am at college I have had to stop taking dance classes and have to find other ways to exercise. So far the 10 Minute Trainer has been very convenient. Today I did a total of thirty minutes. Cardio, Lower Body and Abs. Three minutes in to the first set I was sweating and I knew that after thirty minutes I would feel truly worked. Out of the three I liked the Lower Body the best. The Abs work out was really challenging for me and I had to take small breaks through out that one. So one of the first goals I have set for myself is to soon be able to do the Abs set without taking any breaks.

So now that I have worked out, I am going to make myself an egg white omelette before I go to my first class, where it will reallllly hit me that I am  back to school for another year of working hard and playing hard. And hopefully by the time I go home for Christmas break  I will look and feel in much better shape than when I had left.

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day 26 Total Body/Lower body/Cardio

I went to my new job today. I start Oct 10th, but I had to go in to do paperwork and be fingerprinted. I am so excited. I can’t wait to start!!! I go to school first for 2 months and then take my state exams for CNA. Once I pass it’s all smooth sailing from there.

Once I got back from that I wacked out my workout. On the ticket for today was total body, lower body, and cardio. My dog and cat kept chasing each other around the house during my workout. I don’t know what got into them  but they were running in and out of my feet and everything! I had to pause my workout twice just to yell at them and get them to simmer down. They are almost as bad as a bunch of kids. Speaking of kids, no call from the school nurse today YAY! I took extra notice today to ensure my form was really smooth and I was using the appropriate band weight and all. I want to get the most out of these workouts. In order to do that you have to pay attention to these key areas. It is better to do 8 clean reps or 45 secs of smooth cardio work, than to rush through everything and not get the most out of this program. It really sucked having to do cardio as my wrap up workout. By the end of lower body I was already feeling the heat and definately didn’t feel like running in circles or doing tires. But I sucked it up and pushed that big play button. Which in the end actuualy makes the reward taste better because you know you pushed yourself.

We decided to switch the P90X off days today. Usually, when doing P90X, today would be Core Synergistics of the “Rest Week”. But our son has been feeling the strain of lack of one on one time at night. We devote a lot of time and effort to both of these programs and these blogs. That’s why we’re glad you guys actually read them and respond. We’re not the only ones putting in here, our kids do too. So anyways, our son was upset because we haven’t spent much time with him at night as of late. So instead of working out will use today as our off day and watch a movie with our son. So good night to you all and we’ll see you tomorrow for another fantastic day!

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day 23 Total Body/Cardio/lower body

Whew! I am feeling it today. These 2 workouts a day are really taking their toll. Not that I can’t handle it though. My body is still a bit sore from yesterday’s 10 Minute Tariner workout coupled with the P90X Yoga X wokrout. So needless to say, I was not in any hurry today to do my workouts. I lounged about the house a bit and took advantage of the morning. Started it off with a whole wheat bagel, some cottage cheese, and an orange. Quite scrumptious I must say. After that I got the kiddies off to the bus…….only to be called by the school nurse an hour or so later. It seems my son some how managed to get his finger stuck in some part of the seat belt buckle on the bus. Two nurses, some soap, some ice, and an hour later and he was free! No major damage to report thank God! Only my child…….. After that fiasco I met my husband for lunch. We went out this time and enjoyed a nice adult lunch at Panera bread. We ordered fat free turkey breast on whole grain with some fruit. We even ate outside. I am thoroughly enjoying the adult time again with my husband before I go off and start a job. So after a nice afternoon I came home and started the total body/cardio/lower body workout for 10 Minute Trainer. Really enjoyed it! It felt like I covered the map today. Got my heart pumpin’ and worked some major muscle areas. I really like the lawn mower exercise in the total body routine. It is basically like pull starting your lawn mower with your bands. I like it when you can add a little pretend to your workouts! I am still feeling the burn like crazy on lower body. This being the less toned portion of my body I try to give it my all. There is one series of exercises that I find quite humorous. It’s hard to do them while laughing. You get down like you’re a jockey riding a horse and you do little hops on the balls’ of your feet. You change position and speed slightly throughout, but it is hilarious to see and do! After dinner we watched Speed Racer with the munchkins. I was already falling asleep on the couch and in no mood for another workout, but transition I must! So we shooed them off to bed and started Core Synergistics for P90X. Let me tell you……..my least favorite workout of all time. Strictly for the fact that it is HARD! It is exactly what it says, it works the core. Not just abs, but back, butt, thighs. There were a few things I couldn’t complete due to being so sore from yesterday. I gave it my all and sweated like cray though. In the end I felt good just having made it through without killing myself. Definately not for the weak and weary. So I am taking my sorry butt to the showers and then to bed to dream of workout bands, water bottles, and a 45 year old man that yells at me to “bring it”. LOL. Good night!

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day 22 Cardio/Lower body/Abs

So after much thought and deliberation I have decided to move up to the P90X program. I am finishing up this week of 10 Minute Trainer and also intergrating myself in the X Program. My friend’s sister wil be taking this blog over so you guys won’t be left hanging. I just need more of a challlenge. I used to be a gymnist and still am a very active person. This workout has been grat for building my endurance and stamina. I highly recommend it for anyone. I am just ready to take it to the next level. I have had my eye on the X for a while and I think I might be ready to take it on. So for this next week I will be doing my workouts as well as joining my husband at night to do his workouts.

I did my cardio, lower body, and abs today. I really brought it and tried to push myself to the limit. I want to go out with a bang and make sure I am fully prepared for the next step. I have been able to do those damned hops squats for a week now and I am very proud of myself. I said it would be my 4 week goal and here I am on week 3 and rockin it. I am really noticing changes in myself continuously. I eat healthy, follow the nutrition guide (though not always to a T), and try my hardest during my workouts. I have notice a change in my posture, my sleep patterns, my endurance, even my poop! Strange as that may sound it is true. Because of this diet I have noticed my stools being a little more “firm” shall we say? I highly recommend an increase in fiber, just to be on the safe side. Who knows, maybe that’s just how my body is reacting. But it is just a change I noticed that I can attribute to the program.

Tonight I started my first workout with my husband on the P90X program. We did Yoga X. For those of you that don’t know much about it…….it is the mother of all workouts as far as I’m concerned. It was and hour and a half of yoga! I like to pride myself in being a good little yogi. I must be mistaken. After 30 minutes I was dying! Sore as hell and sweating like a pig. Sweating…..during yoga! It was great though. It wasn’t as killer thoughout, just the beginning. The last half was just a wonderful stretch. It ended great with some relaxation poses and breathing/chanting. I think tomorrow is something called Core Synergytics. I will continue to keep you guys posted. Hope you all are having as much success in your endevors! I wish you much health and happiness!

10 Minute Trainer Reviews: Day 21 Cardio/Abs/Lower Body

Today was a relaxing chill day witht he family. I started off the morning making all the traditional family apple stuffs. Like I mentioned yesterday, we make applesauce, apple chips, and apple bread. It’s all mighty tasty and not all that bad (well…….not really). I spent most of my AM in the kitchen and my house smelled fantastic!!! After that I kind of konked out on the couch. So that means I had to do my workout in the afternoon before dinner. Usually I don’t do this so it was a little out of the norm. I did the whole shebang today with 30 mins. I made it through cardio no problem (although the sweat was pouring). Abs is still a real burner. I love it though. I can really feel it working, and I’m glad my foot is still holding out. The stretches and all are really doing their job so I can do mine. Lower body is one of my favorite workouts. It’s is probably the one that you definately feel the most. Your legs burn and shake and it is excellent because you knowit’s your body telling you “Hey, I’m working it here!” I am really noticing as of late that I am excelling in these programs. They still get my heart pumping, but the intensity isn’t holding me back. I have increased the intesity of my bands hoping that proves to be more of a challenge. I definately plan on moving up to P90x after this. My husband is doing it now and it looks great! Well, back to the kitchen for me. Must go check on my second batch of bread. Don’t you wish you could smell my kitchen right now?
